The debut album ‘Bent Trees & Swanny Deez’ for Western Australian punk rock trio RATSALAD, is an accumulation of years of hard work and relentless gigging. An authentic Aussie story of the life and times in a small coastal town, delivering anthems inspired by all things specific to the band, yet universally relatable. Lead singer Jaz gets vulnerable on the album with Fade Away, a song inspired by the scar that has occupied nearly half of her face since childhood, but effortlessly kicks the energy up with songs like the life be in it ‘Punch in the Face’, or the hectic ‘Anaphylaxis’; an intense tale inspired by a real-life threatening bee reaction. The album has its lighter moments too, with ‘Scooters Chick Treat Jesus’ crescendoing with a drive thru fried chicken order. Jump on this album and see why the quirky small town band, RATSALAD has taken out the West Australian Music Award for the best punk/hardcore song three years running (2021-2023) and are as comfortable headlining a metal festival as they are opening an Australian Football League game at a footy stadium. ‘Bent Trees & Swanny Deez’ will be released on the Pee Records this March 29 on neon coloured vinyl and CD.
