WA Music Week

WA MUSIC WEEK

WA Music Week is a statewide celebration of the West Australian music scene, platforming artists from around the state and shining a light on the diversity, creativity and strength of our local industry.

Running from 12 – 21 September 2025, this year’s program featured live performances, industry conferences, workshops and networking opportunities. WA Music Week brings together musicians, industry professionals and music lovers to celebrate WA’s thriving music culture, fostering career development and building connections that strengthen the local music scene.

WAM collaborated with local event organisers from across the state to create shows that highlight the unique sounds, genres and audiences that define WA’s music scene. From Broome to Esperance, WA Music Week brings audiences together to experience over 70 original, homegrown acts.

WAMCON

WAMCon is a must-attend conference for artists and industry to network, learn, and connect!

Each year a curated line-up of industry representatives share their expert insights and are available for 1:1 sessions to provide relevant advice. WAM provide lots of opportunities to network with all levels of the industry, from local to national and international delegates, to provide expanded opportunities to WA musicians.

Attendees get to engage with experts, build knowledge and capacity, and identify clear priorities for skills development. The conference provides accessible pathways to industry knowledge and networks, practical skills development aimed at sustainable career building, and panels exploring the challenges artists face in generating income and building audiences.

PROGRAMMED EVENTS

As part of WA Music Week, WAM invites the wider music industry to be part of our official program through WA Music Week Programmed Events Initiative.

To create a diverse and inclusive program of events throughout the state that showcases under-represented regions and modes of practice. WAM provides seed funding and promotional support to recipients to assist with their individual events and to contribute to broader audience development work.

Developing the presentation of live music is an important part of WAM’s new strategy that emphasises uplifting existing communities of practice.

WAM SHOWCASE

WAM has reconfigured the old WAMFest to a more dedicated showcase.

The WAM Showcase aims to spotlight Western Australia’s most exciting emerging, unsigned and underrated local bands to the WA public along with national bookers, agents, labels and other music industry professionals. Curated to reflect the state’s diverse and dynamic music scene, the showcase offers artists a platform to connect with audiences and key industry representatives from across Australia.

Taking place over multiple venues across Perth City the showcase features a mix of genres, styles and career stages.

REGIONAL GATHERING

WAM has a proud history of supporting music in the regions. A key part of this history has been the annual Regional Roundtable, convened to bring together key personnel to discuss regional issues alongside WAMCon.

As part of our strategic renewal, WAM has re-tooled the roundtable into a Regional Gathering. This shifts the focus to include more structured professional development on regional communities, plus a facilitated consultation with the regional sector to drive future WAM policies and projects. The objective of the Gathering is to provide targeted professional and industry development to the regions while consulting on solutions to regional challenges.
