Support

Need a Letter of Support for your funding application? WAM can help!

At WAM, we’re passionate about supporting the local music scene and directly helping WA musicians secure vital funding.

We can provide assistance with 1:1 coaching, grant reviews, and by providing letters of support.

The grant assistance program has ended for 2025, check back in early 2026 for more details! Due to our small staff taking leave, we are unable to provide letters of support for the remainder of 2025.

If you have queries, questions, or something you need urgent assistance with, please email hello@wam.org.au or call the office on 08 6156 1245.

Letter of Support request policy

To ensure the most impactful letter of support, we have a clear process based on internal policies. When considering your request, WAM assesses the project’s benefit to WA’scontemporary music industry and its significance to the national sector. We align your project with our strategic plan and vision for contemporary music in WA, as well as the funder’s strategic framework.

We need the following background info:

Overview of your project and what you’re trying to achieve
Details of the specific grant you’re applying for
Any previous WAM involvement with project personnel
Your notable achievements as an artist or organisation
How your project aligns with or meets the funding criteria
List of personnel, contractors, and organisations involved

This helps us identify any potential conflicts of interest and provide a strong letter of support.

It’s fairly standard practice in the industry to provide a template draft letter when you request one, so we encourage sending us one.

We need at least 10 business days to turn these around. This allows our small team enough time to assess the request and return the signed letter to you – remembering that we are often hit with a flurry of requests in the two weeks leading up to grant rounds closing!

Please consider making your request earlier, especially if we’re unfamiliar with your project. We prefer to receive applications direct from the artist, organisation, or their manager. Requests from third parties will be considered and assessed on the information provided.

Importantly, as the peak body for contemporary music in WA and a trusted voice for the industry, we reserve the right to refuse to provide a letter of support for any reason. This includes but is not limited to staff workload, inappropriate content, delivery concerns, lack of information, or a potential conflict of interest.
