WAM Grants Assistance Program
At WAM, we’re passionate about supporting the local music scene and directly helping WA musicians secure vital funding.
We can provide assistance with drop-in sessions, 1:1 coaching, grant reviews, and by providing letters of support.
Keep an eye out for our next drop-in session – coming to a venue near you in the Perth Metro area, or online to Teams for regionals. During these sessions we can provide general information on what funding is available, tips and tricks on how to apply, examples of what a successful application looks like, and direct advice on your drafts. As we do more of these, we’ll be winding down our 1:1 coaching sessions so we can help more people and share the knowledge!
If you have queries, questions, or something you need urgent assistance with, please email hello@wam.org.au or call the office on 08 6156 1245.
Need a Letter of Support for your funding application? WAM can help!
As a peak body, WAM can provide a valuable letter of support for you in your application for funding. We’ve provided over 100 of these to musicians and organisations over the last year! Definitely ask us, but please note the below policy and process – get in early and understand that occasionally we can’t help every single request. Read the below and then click on the button to submit your request via the form.
Letter of Support request policy
To ensure the most impactful letter of support, we have a clear process based on internal policies. When considering your request, WAM assesses the project’s benefit to WA’scontemporary music industry and its significance to the national sector. We align your project with our strategic plan and vision for contemporary music in WA, as well as the funder’s strategic framework.
We need the following background info:
This helps us identify any potential conflicts of interest and provide a strong letter of support.
It’s fairly standard practice in the industry to provide a template draft letter when you request one, so we encourage sending us one.
We need at least 10 business days to turn these around. This allows our small team enough time to assess the request and return the signed letter to you – remembering that we are often hit with a flurry of requests in the two weeks leading up to grant rounds closing!
Please consider making your request earlier, especially if we’re unfamiliar with your project. We prefer to receive applications direct from the artist, organisation, or their manager. Requests from third parties will be considered and assessed on the information provided.
Importantly, as the peak body for contemporary music in WA and a trusted voice for the industry, we reserve the right to refuse to provide a letter of support for any reason. This includes but is not limited to staff workload, inappropriate content, delivery concerns, lack of information, or a potential conflict of interest!
