The WAM Awards (WAMis) are making their highly anticipated return in 2025, continuing the proud tradition of recognising those who have made an exceptional contribution to music across Western Australia.
Today, WAM are thrilled to reveal the list of this year’s deserving nominees selected by industry judges after reviewing nearly 1000 submissions.
Following the postponement of the 2024 awards, WAM made a conscious decision to extend the nomination period, ensuring recognition of artists, organisations and individuals whose contributions span between 2023 and 2025. Covering a diverse range of categories, from craft and genre to venues and music businesses, this year’s nominees shine a spotlight on the outstanding talent and creativity within our local music community.
After a public call for nominations, the 2025 awards received close to 1000 entries across 26 categories, reflecting the depth and vibrancy of our industry. A carefully selected panel of industry judges then undertook the meticulous process of determining the top nominees in each category.
Leading the tally and off the back of an impressive year that included the release of their debut album ‘FEAST ETERNAL’ in June 2024 are Yomi Ship, with an outstanding four nominations. They are closely followed by TAB Family and Kimberley band Family Shoveller Band with three nominations apiece.
WAM also welcomes several first-time nominees among this year’s cohort, including local indie singer-songwriter, Ullah. After opening for Missy Higgins in December 2024, Ullah has gone on to feature in triple j Unearthed’s One’s To Watch 2025 and showcase at Australia’s premier music festival and conference, BIGSOUND.
WAM’s Chief Executive Officer, Owen Whittle said “Music in Western Australia is having a moment. Our local artists and bands continue to punch above our weight and produce the best music in the country. This is our chance to reflect an incredible period for local music.
“WAM announce on the evening a new Hall of Fame Inductee and our Golden WAMi award winners – recognising those who have shaped our music community and gone above and beyond.”
WAM invites the public and industry alike to come together in celebrating the talent and excellence that defines WA’s vibrant live music scene at this year’s Awards Night, held at Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. The much-loved night will feature live performances from this year’s nominees, plus appearances from some of your favourite local talents. Tickets are on sale now via the WAM website.
