West Australian Music (WAM) is the peak music body in Western Australia responsible for protecting, nurturing and growing all forms of contemporary music. WAM is an independent not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting Western Australian musicians through advocacy, sector development, and capacity building to ensure WA continues to be renowned for its unique and diverse contemporary music and creative industries.

Position

As part of the State Government’s four-year package to support contemporary and live music, WAM has been funded to develop a series of initiatives to develop statewide audiences for local contemporary music.

This will involve developing a new statewide audience development strategy for WAM to deliver through coordinated initiatives with industry partners, the development of a digital gig guide, and mapping work undertaken by venues, artists, and organisations to promote local music.

The successful application will collaborate with the CEO to develop and foster key stakeholder relationships, collate and research best practice audience development strategies and initiatives, and provide advice to industry on audience development.

Project Officer – Audience Development Duties 

  • Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of a statewide gig-guide. 

  • Collaborate with RTRFM on joint initiatives to grow audiences. 

  • Facilitate assistance, coordination and co-operation between music venues, artists and organisations to develop audience for contemporary music. 

  • Develop a statewide audience development strategy. 

  • Scope, research, collate and disseminate information amongst stakeholders. 

  • Work with stakeholders to commission research into topics such as ticket purchasing behaviour and economic impact. 

  • Develop and deliver resources to support the hosting of live music events by venues, artists and local government.
