WAM Members discount for AGDA Ian Anderson Talk and Q&A
AGDA (the Australian Graphic Design Association) are bringing out designer and former band manager, Ian Anderson, from the renowned British agency ‘The Designer’s Republic’ (tDR) who are celebrated for their logos, album artwork and their anti-establishment aesthetics at the height of ’90s dance and techno music. He’s set to inspire with a Talk and Q&A session, and WAM Members get discounted tickets!
Ian was part of a design team who designed album artwork extensively in the ’80s and ’90s, including for notable WARP electronic artists Aphex Twin and Autechre, and the sleeve of the 1987 12-inch “Don’t Get Mad… Get Even! (The New York Remixes)” was selected as one of Q’s “100 Best Record Covers of All Time” in 2001.
Ian will be discussing design, with cross disciplinary origins and strong links to British music of the ’80s. This will include in-depth discussion of skills such as: branding and marketing for bands, album and CD artwork, and music videos as well as anecdotes from his time at tDR. If you are seeking to broaden your knowledge on these elements of the music industry, this will be a fantastic opportunity for members to learn from an acclaimed industry professional.
The event will take place at the North Metropolitan TAFE on Thursday 9 March at 6pm. Please use Museum St entrance after 6pm.
WAM members will receive a discount to the event. Please email Kate Branson at [email protected] for your discount code.
