WA acts hit screen as the cartoon band The Shapes

6 Jan

WA production company Mad Kids have announced its first animated series, The Shapes, on ABC3 TV and ABC iview. An animated musical comedy series showcasing music videos from raucous cartoon band ‘The Shapes’, the series will reveal the band’s six brand-new, slightly deranged songs in all their rowdy glory, and includes the local musical talents of Timothy Nelson (of the WAMi award-winning Timothy Nelson and The Infidels) and Ofa Fotu (Odette Mercy & Her Soul Atomics).

The songs include Give Up! (a rock-anthem about what you should do when the going gets tough), Sugar High (a disco track about the side-effects of consuming way too much sugar) and Picking My Nose (a song about an inability to control a most socially unacceptable urge). In other words, it’s lots of fun!

The series is written & directed by Henry Inglis and Matt Lovkis and produced by Lauren Elliott, with music and lyrics by Matt Lovkis, actress Gemma Sharpe (Blue Square) and the aforementioned artists.
