Australia to be leading country partner for The Great Escape Festival 2019
The Great Escape (TGE) is a festival for new music, showcasing 500 emerging artists from all over the world in 30+ walkable venues across the city plus, new for 2018, a festival site on Brighton Beach.
TGE is also attended by the music industry who are on the hunt for the next big thing. A convention goes down alongside the gigs featuring insightful panels, topical debates, keynote speeches and networking opportunities in abundance – much like our own WAMCon!
Every year the festival highlights it’s lead country partnership showcasing the best talent they have to offer in front of industry professionals and music lovers. It is just announced that TGE 2019’s lead country partner will be none other than Australia to celebrate SOUNDS AUSTRALIA’s 10th Year of Exporting Australian Music to the UK.
Here’s what the Executive Producer at SOUNDS AUSTRALIA, Millie Millgate had to say about the partnership:
“We are thrilled to be heading to Brighton this May as lead country, as we celebrate SOUNDS AUSTRALIA’s 10th Year of Exporting Australian Music to the UK. We cherish our partnership with The Great Escape team and recognise the incredible impact the festival has had for countless Australian artists and music businesses in the last decade. Year upon year The Great Escape has been the vehicle from which Australian artists have secured deals, garnered media attention and converted new audiences and we believe the Australian focus in 2019 will continue to deliver these career-building outcomes”.
With this exciting announcement TGE also drops the first wave of up and coming Aussie acts to play at the 2019 festival which including WA’s very own grunge rock band Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, indie folk threesome Sons of the East, soul singer songwriter Allysha Joy, tiresome punk trio Cable Ties, scuzz girl band Body Type, alternative rock foursome Tropical Fuck Storm and four piece punk outfit These New South Whales.
