NAIDOC Week Celebration show, with The Struggling Kings also on ABC 720

There’s been some amazing events and happenings as part of NAIDOC week already, celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and communities from last to this Sunday, 12 July.

Inspired by this, there’s also been some incredible Indigenous music talent highlighted on radio, and this Wednesday 8 July will see WAM’s weekly segment on ABC 720 with John McGlue featuring the talented acoustic trio The Struggling Kings, chatting and performing a song live around 4.30pm.

They will also be playing at The Perth Cultural Centre earlier in the day at a special free event with Wayne Bynder and Jim Morrison from Noongar Radio  hosting an afternoon of family entertainment on the Wetland Stage featuring Perth NAIDOC Artist of the Year Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse, and other exceptional musical acts, including  Delta Oui and Tamaree.

There’ll be on-site food vans plus bush tucker tastings, ochre face painting and more. Visit the Storylines database information stall about Aboriginal history in WA from the State Library of WA, or talk to staff from Central Institute of Technology’s Koolark Centre stall.

You can also tune into 100.9FM from 12pm to 4pm to hear the afternoon’s music live across Noongar Radio.
