LAUNCHPAD: Promoting WA music acts’ launches

There’s constantly a heap of sweet new tunes coming out of WA, and LaunchPad is here to fill you in on the latest single, video, EP and album launches from local acts of all genres over the next fortnight…

 

 

► Landing garage rock from the astral plane, Buzz Aldrin & The Second Best launch their debut single Weighed Down at The Odd Fellow on Friday 19 February, with support from Pat Chow, Shit Narnia and Chief Richards (aka Peter Bibby).

► Winners of Best Punk/Hardcore act at the 2015 WA Music Awards, Scalphunter launch new single Men With Square Eyes on Saturday 20 February at Amplifier Bar with supporting acts Bare Bones, Statues, The Light The Dark and Ohm Rune.

► Reverb poppers The Spunloves launch their latest single 7” on Saturday 20 February at Mojos Bar, with special guests Moistyoyster, Kitchen People, Ash Pederick and Ben Witt.

► Shoegazers Dream Rimmy launch their new single Waves with support from Diger Rokwell, Regular Boys and Pool Boy at The Bird on Saturday 20 February.

► Mojos Bar sees a double CD launch from Afro funksters Mutima (who featured on the Kiss My WAMi CD last year) and reggae band Soulja Kaptivez on Sunday 21 February.

► Indie-folk-popster and WAM award nominee Riley Pearce launches his Outside The Lines EP supported by Oakland, Teischa and Eloise Ashton on Friday 26 February at Rosemount Hotel.

► Sardonic, extreme punk act Dear Leader launch their Krasnaya EP at Four5nine (Rosemount Hotel) on Friday 26 February, with El Capitan, Sexpiss, Lambnation and more supporting.

► Alternative, heavy rock trio OPIA release their debut album EON at Amplifier Capitol on Friday 26 February, supported by This Other Eden, Graphic Characters and Giant Dwarf.

► Blues n’ roots, funky pop Perth four-piece Vorsen launch their new EP at Jimmy’s Den on Friday 26 February, supported by Sydnee Carter, Stella Donnelly and Great Gable.

► Indie rock, roots band The Southern River Band launches One Of These Nights (I’ll Be Gone) off of their upcoming debut album, supported by High Horse and The Wheelers of Oz on Friday 26 February at Mojos.

► Saturday 27 February sees cheeky rockers Vida Cain launching brand new EP Ignite at The Boston, with support from good friends The Caballeros, Lionizer, Jackson Koke.

► Fuzz-psych-grungesters Filthy Apes present their new EP Luna Solar Dreamer at Mojos Bar on Saturday 27 February, supported by Pat Chow, Ah Trees, Fuzz Toads, Jacob Diamond, Mitch McDonald and World A Fuzzy.

► Folk, alt-country and bluegrass group The Folk Machine launch new album Small Tales at Rodney’s Bait n Tackle on Saturday 27 February.

► Psychedelic rock band Red Engine Caves launch the first track off upcoming album Purple Pam with support acts The High Learys, Marmalade Mama and Junglenauts at The Rosemount on Saturday 27 February.

► Pop rock band Segue Safari launches Friends EP with support acts Salary, John Martyr’s Ghost and Mung Dahl on Saturday 27 February at the Four5Nine.

► Punk rockers The Tommyhawks launch their latest single in the Rosie’s sideroom Four5Nine with support acts TBA on Sunday 28 February.
