Be seduced by jazz with over 60 performances!
Perth International Jazz Festival features features an incredible array of local, national and international jazz artists for its sixth annual event happening across the city for one weekend only on Friday 9, Saturday 10 & Sunday 11 November 2018.
Utilising the Perth Cultural Centre and Wetlands Stage as well as the State Theatre Centre, The Bird and The Ellington Jazz Club, there are a ton of local artists playing including MELVE as part of RTRFM’s Courtyard Club, Nick Abbey Trio, Ray Walker Trio, Artemis Orchestra, WAYJO Jazz for Juniors, Simon Jeans Quartet, Straight Ahead The Big Band, Gemma Farrell Quintet, Ben Matthews, WAAPA Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Riffz 2000, Fat Sparrow, Harry Mitchell Quartet, Penny King Quartet, Jamie Oehlers Night Music, Young Women in Jazz Ensemble, Palms, Pete Jeavons Quintet, Mejadra – album launch, Kate Pass Kohesia Ensemble, Soft West, Grievous Bodily Clam, and Daniel Susnjar Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group.
Local jazz singer Libby Hammer is also hosting Club Choir – a free jazz community singing project for three days.
Aside from our local artists, performers include Anita Wardell (UK) – a BBC Jazz Award-winning musician who can fluently scat and vocalese, and multi ARIA-award winning artist, Kate Ceberano (MEL) who teams with legendary saxophonist Carl Mackey to present a special performance of the 1961 soul-jazz album: ‘Nancy Wilson & Cannonball Adderley’, and many more.
Tickets are on sale now. Make the most of your festival weekend and take advantage of a State Theatre Centre Weekend Pass for $200, giving you access to 23 shows over three days. Day passes are also available for Friday ($60), Saturday ($100) and Sunday ($100). Tickets are also on sale for individual performances.
