Burning one of the most fascinating trails through Australian rock music history, Peter Garrett will visit Perth to launch his long-awaited autobiography Big Blue Sky, to be published by Allen & Unwin in October. WAM is excited to partner with Boffins Books to host Peter for a breakfast event, in conversation with a soon to be announced high profile local identity.

The event takes place on Monday 19 October at the Duxton Hotel Perth, commencing at 7am, with an ‘In conversation’ session followed by a book signing. Tickets cost $60 (including a full, cooked breakfast, coffee and pastries) or $99 with book.  Tickets can be purchased online at trybooking.com/INQZ.

Boffins Books co-owner Lou Pontarolo said he was thrilled to be partnering with WAM to host such an iconic Australian identity in Perth. “We’re delighted to have the opportunity to celebrate Peter Garrett’s life and career, as he shares his story in his highly anticipated memoir.”

WAM’s CEO Mike Harris enthused on the Midnight Oil frontman, “Although having to overcome a difficult start in life, in that he’s not from WA, Peter Garrett is a legendary musician who has inspired many a West Australian act, and thrilled hundreds of thousands of WA fans over the years. WAM is excited to partner with Boffins to present this rare opportunity to gain intimate insights into the inspirations behind this rock’n’roll legend.”

Peter Garrett’s life has been deeply felt and fully lived. A man of boundless energy, compassion, intelligence and creativity, he has already achieved enough to fill several lives. From his idyllic childhood growing up in the northern suburbs of Sydney, to an early interest in equality and justice; from the height of 1960s culture shock at ANU to fronting iconic Australian band Midnight Oil; from his time as a galvanising activist for the environment to being the only unaligned Cabinet Minister in two Labor governments, Garrett has an extraordinary story to tell.

Big Blue Sky is due to be published on 14 October 2015 (RRP $49.99, Allen & Unwin). For more information, email events@boffinsbookshop.com.au or telephone 08 9321 5755.
