2020 Contemporary Music Touring Program Grants Open

14 Jan

Are you planning your 2020/2021 national tour? Australia Council for the Arts have announced additional funding opportunities available through the Contemporary Music Touring Program, and the first round of applications are now open!

The Contemporary Music Touring Program is designed to support national touring activity by Australian musicians creating and performing original, contemporary music. As part of the Australian Music Industry Package announced earlier this year, the Federal government has committed an additional $2 million over four years to the program, allowing the Australian Council to broaden the scope and provide additional opportunities for musicians touring between remote, regional and metropolitan areas.

Funding caps have been increased with applicants now eligible to apply for up to $25,000 for tours containing a regional component, and up to $50,000 for tours including at least 75% remote or very remote locations. New funding of up to $15,000 has been introduced for metropolitan-only tours, with the aim of creating more opportunities for contemporary musicians to tour interstate, and for regionally based artists to tour to capital cities.

Three funding rounds will be held per year – in February, June and October. The current round for projects starting after 1 May 2020 closes on Tuesday 4 February.

Additional information on the Contemporary Music Touring Program, application criteria, and application forms are located at the Australia Council for the Arts website here.
