Song of the Year 2021 presented by Act-Belong-Commit is offering the opportunity to have your song evaluated and personalised feedback provided by a professional through our song evaluation option included in the application.

You can select from our four evaluators, Anna Laverty, Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe), Sam Ford (Tone City Recording Studio) and Tenille Elkins (APRA AMCOS, NM TAFE). An additional fee applies for evaluation and will be added to your Song of the Year application payment.

Anna Laverty
Boasting credits on projects by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Courtney Barnett, Paul Dempsey and Florence and The Machine, Producer, Mixer and Engineer Anna Laverty has established herself as one of Australia’s finest young talents.

Under the tutelage of Award winning producers Paul Epworth (Adele, Primal Scream, Foster The People) and Ben Hillier (Blur, U2, Elbow), Anna honed her production and engineering skills working on releases by Bloc Party, Florence and The Machine and seminal English New Wave band Depeche Mode, amongst others, at London’s famed Miloco Studios. Since her return to Australia, Anna has been behind the desk, working with some of the most beloved acts in Australia and abroad, including: The Peep Tempel, Something For Kate, Eagle and the Worm, TinPan Orange, Cut Copy, Meg Mac, Lady GaGa, New Gods and Jae Laffer.

Eskimo Joe/Freelance Songwriter & Producer

Joel Quartermain
Joel Quartermain is a 2 time ARIA Award-winning Producer who has been writing songs since the age 12. Joel first came to prominence as a founding member and songwriter of the highly successful Australian band Eskimo Joe. Since 2012 Joel has immersed himself in the dual roles of Producer and Writer, most notably achieving local and international success via his collaboration with Meg Mac.

Sam Ford
Sam Ford is a producer, mixer, engineer and songwriter who has worked with some of Australia’s most exciting artists. Most notably as a writer, producer and mixer on Abbe May’s ARIA and J Award nominated Kiss My Apocalypse, Australian Music Prize finalist Design Desire and POND’s cult 2012 release; Beard, Wives, Denim.

Known for his modern sound and organic approach, Sam has been an integral part of the growth of many rising artists. After establishing Tone City Recording Studio in his home town of Perth Western Australia, he has continued to grow an impressive portfolio of work both as a songwriter and producer/mixer.

Over the past 12 months Sam has worked with artists GUM, POND, Peter Bibby, San Cisco, Tina Says and Total Giovanni and released an EP of his own work under Leopard Lake.

Tenille Elkins
Tenille Elkins is an active songwriter, Lecturer and WA Senior Writer Services Representative at APRA AMCOS. Tenille has over 16 years experience working at APRA AMCOS, and sharing her Industry knowledge for over 10 years as a Lecturer in Music Industries at North Metropolitan TAFE.
