After the resounding success of the first two instalments of the higher note series, wam is excited to announce that applications are now open for Higher Note 2019.

Aimed at self-managed musicians and emerging managers serious about kicking their career up a level, Higher Note is a bespoke two-day workshop program running from Thursday 16 – Friday 17 September 2019 at the State Theatre Centre of WA in Northbridge, thanks to Perth Theatre Trust.

The program provides unprecedented access to some of Australia’s most experienced industry representatives in a unique and intimate boardroom setting – allowing attendees to easily ask questions, seek personal career advice, and build valuable connections.

Facilitated by Scott Adam (North Metropolitan TAFE, ex-manager of WAMi award winner Ruby Boots) the two-day intensive will feature 10+ learning sessions presented by industry experts on everything from strategy, publicity & social media, business management, touring and much, much more. Attendees will also be invited to let their hair down at the exclusive wind-up event  Tuesday 17 September at The Bird, with refreshments provided.

As spaces are strictly limited WAM is seeking expressions of interest from self-managed artists and up-and-coming managers based in WA via application by 5pm Wednesday 24 July 2019. Successful applicants will be required to pay a one-off course fee of $120 for WAM members / $170 for non-members.

With so much invaluable advice and networking opportunities on offer, this is a series not to be missed!

 TESTIMONIALS

Hear from some of last year’s attendees!

“The Higher Note workshop came at the perfect time for me, as I’d been feeling all the difficulties that comes with being a self managed artist. The workshop gave me a renewed energy that I can manage myself and my creative business. So much awesome information from all of the speakers to walk away with and feel confident again. Also great to connect with other managers from around the state and continue to build on my music community. Something that feels even more important for me being a regionally based artist.”

– Tanya Ransom

” Higher Note is a unique and amazing opportunity to fast track your knowledge of how to take your (or someone else’s) music to the next level in the industry. It’s rare to be able to pick the brain’s of so many respected music industry professionals who were all so generous about sharing their expertise. Highly recommended!!”

– Steve Elkins

“It’s easy for self-managed artists to become overwhelmed with the sheer volume of ‘stuff’ to do that comes along with getting your music out of the jam room and into the eyes and ears of the world. (That’s definitely been my experience.) Participating in Higher Note propels you into the conversations that you need to be having with a range of music industry professionals, including a bunch you probably haven’t even thought to have yet. Everyone in the room comes into the conference with a different angle, but everyone’s positive, passionate about what they do and extremely supportive. Two days later, you’ll be celebrating your game plan for next steps while having some drinks with your new pals. What’s not to dig?”
