WAM’s Higher Note workshop series for emerging artists and managers returns!

26 Jun

After the resounding success of last year’s Higher Note series, WAM is excited to announce that applications are now open for Higher Note 2018.

Aimed at self-managed musicians and emerging managers serious about kicking their career up a level, Higher Note is a bespoke two-day workshop program running from Thursday 16 – Friday 17 August 2018 at the State Theatre Centre of WA in Northbridge, thanks to Perth Theatre Trust.

The program provides unprecedented access to some of Australia’s most experienced industry representatives in a unique and intimate boardroom setting – allowing attendees to easily ask questions, seek personal career advice, and build valuable connections.

Facilitated by Scott Adam (North Metropolitan TAFE, ex-manager of WAMi award winner Ruby Boots) the two-day intensive will feature 10+ learning sessions presented by industry experts on everything from strategy, publicity & social media, business management, touring and much, much more. Attendees will also be invited to let their hair down at the exclusive wind-up event Friday 17 August at The Bird, with refreshments provided.

As spaces are strictly limited WAM is seeking expressions of interest from self-managed artists and up-and-coming managers based in WA via application by 5pm Thursday 19 July. Successful applicants will be required to pay a one-off course fee of $110 for WAM members / $160 for non-members.

With so much invaluable advice and networking opportunities on offer, this is a series not to be missed!

Hear from some of last year’s attendees!

“The two days I spent on WAM’s Higher note course were invaluable to me as an independent artist navigating the often-intimidating world of the music and entertainment industry. The networks, skills and business acumen I acquired on the course, as well as the professional and personal relationships formed with some amazing people, will be a great stepping stone to furthering my career within the industry.”
Rosscoe Frantz

“Being selected for WAM’s ‘Higher Note’ Workshop was an incredible opportunity and I was so grateful to be a part of it. I learnt so much about releasing a track, publishing, social media and more. I had so many questions for so long, that had never been answered (and I never knew where to look to find those answers!) and ‘Higher Note’ really just answered everything and gave me so much more clarity. It was a small group too, so it was nice to be given that individual attention, and to be around such a diverse group of like-minded musicians and writers in such a supportive environment. I would highly recommend it for anyone who is trying to get their original project off the ground or needs to be inspired again.”

“Thanks so much to you for organising the workshop last week. It was fantastic, Scott was an excellent facilitator and all of the speakers and information provided was excellent and really well focused on the business of music!”
