WAMFest breaks attendance records but needs your help to make 2018 even better

30 Nov

Nominated for a National Live Music Award, breaking records and becoming one of the world’s biggest all-local music festivals, we were rather happy with how WAMFest went last year. The numbers are now in from all the venues for the 2017 WAMFest presented by Drug Aware, proudly supported by City of Perth & Lotterywest, and we’re chuffed to announce this year’s festival attendance almost tripled to just shy of 40K attendees. With an increase of 173% from the previous year to 39,638 attendees, thanks to the record-breaking number of people raising their hands up high for WA music!

WAM CEO Mike Harris commented, “An incredibly successful WAMFest, WAMCon and WAMAwards. Massive thanks and congratulations to all concerned in designing, planning and delivering this fantastic event. Skinny O’Leary and Mark Neal worked themselves into the ground to deliver their first WAMFest Live – big thanks for that. Now we look to 2018 and what that will look like: how to advance WAMFest and WA music more broadly. I’m excited just thinking about it.”

The feedback from WAMFest acts and punters has been WAmazing, but we want to keep evolving and create something even better for more music lovers to enjoy next year.

 WAMFest Live 1THANKS!!

Thanks to every single person who contributed, whether one of the many thousands of fans throwing their hands up for WA music, or the incredible people and organisations that helped behind the scenes in creating one heck of a fine celebration of local music.

Of course, a HUGE thank you needs to go to the generosity and dedication shown by our partners in championing WA music. Without the below organisations and businesses, such a festival couldn’t have been possible. So show ‘em some love back.

And special thanks to the City of Vincent and Town of Bassendean for partnering with us to present WAMFest Live Sunday events.
