WAMFest 2016 highlights, survey, prizes & more

The WAM office has finally recovered from this year’s newly named WAMFest presented by Drug Aware, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the overwhelming amount of support from everyone who championed or celebrated incredible WA music across Perth over the four days. From everyone at WAM – a massive THANK YOU for an EPIC four days!!!

With record-breaking attendance,  we’re already planning WAMFest’s future with further improvements to be directed by YOU (survey below, with ace prizes on offer to say thanks). We’ve also collated a few facts, figures, media reviews, photos etc to help fill you in on what you may have missed, or to relive the dream…



WHAT THE FACTS SAID

A few highlights for this year’s WAMFest included:

Overall, the WAMFest saw a 30% increase in attendance, with over 14,000 music lovers satiated over the 4 days.

WAMFest expanded to 26 venues, 8 more venues than last year, with increased interest from live music venues to get involved

WAMCon saw more speakers attending than ever recorded and overwhelming positive feedback from attendees, proving to be the best one yet

The Moshtix QuayNote Boat Party had more attendees than ever with tickets selling out and huge demand after the success of the first boat party in 2015

The WAMAwards sold-out and the move to Gate One Theatre (Claremont Showgrounds) made for a night to remember, celebrating the winners in style

A record number of Saturday Spectacular venues reached capacity, including the Block Party, The Bird, Jimmy’s Den, Universal Bar, Badlands and more!

The Friday Showcases saw a record breaking attendance with over 3,100 punters, a 23% increase from 2015

► Sunday Best presented by Parlour saw an Australian festival first putting the festival into the hands of punters, with backyards filled up across Perth to be the perfect festival finisher. Check out one of the parlour gigs here

► The return of Kiss My Camera saw record breaking entries showcasing some of WA’s best photographers. Check out some of the entries here

The 2016 WAMFest presented by Drug Aware saw more than 12,000 people impressed by over 160+ WA acts, record-breaking WAMCon speaker attendance, and a heap of sold-out and capacity-reaching events across the 4 days of festivities. We were psyched by these successes, but we want to keep on improving so people next year again say it’s “the best WAMFest ever”!

This is where we need YOU (best punters in the world, as well as media, acts etc) can help ensure next year’s WAM festivities are even better.
