WAMedia Watch: WA music news goods rounded up

30 Jan

A lot happens in two weeks in the local music world, but luckily WAM is here to remind you of a few highlights:

Soon to head out on WAM’s Wheatbelt Touring Circuit, good times swingers Boom! Bap! Pow! (pictured) have had their previous WAM Song Of The Year Pop category winning song Suit synched to a number of ads, with the latest Coca Cola and Microsoft advertisements being viewed by audiences globally. More info at The West Australian.

No stranger to winning WA Music Awards, always rising rock faves The Love Junkies have been accepted into the coming South By South West showcase. More info at The Au Review.

The triple j Hottest 100 happened last week, with the stats worth a look. Not such a good stat was that, out of 59 Australian songs, only a single WA act made the cut, this being San Cisco. Hopefully this Sunday’s Hottest 200 will see WA acts doing better. More stats at triple j.

Any big news items of interest, we’d love to hear from you! Please send info to [email protected] for consideration in this section, plus WAM’s weekly local music segment on 720 ABC Drivetime with John McGlue - happening Wednesdays around 4.30pm.
