WAM Songwriting workshops with Grand Casual

27 Jun

WAM, in partnership with Healthway, is pleased to announce a series of free songwriting workshops at The Cannery in Esperance this July. The workshops present a unique opportunity for aspiring young song writers to develop their skills in writing and arranging under the guidance of members of local Esperance band Grand Casual.

Kyron Smithson, member of the band, is an accomplished musician and sound engineer and passionate advocate for music as a vehicle for positivity. He said, “The work I do locally is one hundred percent driven by the understanding that music has such a positive impact upon mental health – this project is a dream!”

Over the course of 3 sessions, participants will learn about the process of free writing and how to prepare and record demos. The workshops will also encourage and promote Healthway’s message of Act-Belong-Commit and maintaining positive mental health through creative expression and connecting with others.

The workshops are open to participants ages 12 and over and youth are encouraged to apply. To RSVP or for more information, please contact Em Burrows at
