xpress mag and the music and X-Press Magazine join forces

29 Jun

The music-media landscape is about to see an unprecedented shake-up as and X-Press Magazine join forces as WA Perth entertainment media leaders, announcing today their unique alliance. They believe the alliance will strengthen both media groups and, more importantly, provide the market with a stronger set of editorial and advertising platforms for both the local West Australian market as well as national brands, artists and industry looking for a greater presence in WA.

The unique partnership between two former rivals sees them now working together with a single print masthead and online portal. With the current Perth marketplace making it unsustainable for two streetpapers to continue to co-exist in, they will take the major strengths from X-Press – in the magazine market – and The Music – in the online space – and combined them as a single offering. With a 30-year legacy in the print marketplace, X-Press Magazine will continue as the magazine masthead. The WAMI award-winning will become the online destination for X-Press content and digital advertising.

Columbia Press (Publisher of X-Press Magazine) Managing Director Joe Cipriani said, “This is a great decision for the WA entertainment scene, both for advertisers and readers, the combined editorial strength both in WA and nationally will see X-Press Magazine grow with even greater access to national and international artists, while will increase its WA content taking advantage of X-Press Magazine’s resources locally.”

They argue WA will benefit from increased local coverage from The Music’s current local team combining with X-Press’ team for content.

Craig Treweek, Managing Director of The Music, commented: “As the media landscape continues to change we saw this as a unique opportunity to enhance the coverage of West Australian music entertainment both locally and nationally. We can also continue to provide advertisers the advantages of integrated online and print campaigns.”
