Tapped By Otherside WA Regional Tour Grant applications open

12 Oct

A cultural initiative helping Australian musicians take their music further, the Tapped By Otherside grants are committed to enhancing Western Australia as a breeding ground for musical exports.

Otherside – a truly local WA brand – is glad to bring it all on home with the inaugural Regional Tour Grant (South West, Goldfields and Mid-West), valued at $2,000. The Regional Tour Grant is designed to assist a WA group or solo artist in staging a comprehensive tour of the south-west, mid-west and Goldfields regions. Otherside will announce a ‘north west’ version of the grant early in 2018.

Applications for the 2017 grant are open now and close Friday 10 November. All ‘original music’ West Australian-based bands and solo artists are eligible to apply. Applicants will be shortlisted by a panel of music industry professionals, with voting then opened to the public.

The winner will be announced on Friday 17 November, and the tour must take place before the end of March 2018.

Of Verge Collection’s Australian Tour Grant win, frontman and songwriter Ben Arnold said: “When you’re based in Perth is always costly and a lot of bands aren’t lucky enough to be able to do it. A lot of businesses talk a lot about supporting live, original music in WA: it’s great to see one putting its money where its mouth is!”

The following 2018 Tapped By Otherside music grants in the coming months:

– International Development Grant
– Australian Tour Grant
– WA Regional Tour Grant (North West)
