Sunset cancels Southbound as fires tragically continue

8 Jan

First and foremost, all our thoughts are with those affected by the tragic bushfires sweeping through South West WA. Also huge props to the WAMi award-winning Sunset Events who, with their usual professional aplomb, made the tough decision to cancel this weekend’s Southbound Festival.

With an epic line-up of internationals and the kind of local line-up that gets WAM extremely excited, Sunset had only everyone’s safety in mind when they last night cancelled the festival. They’ve also said they’ll be offering offered full refunds, so, again, kudos to the promoters behind one of WA’s most loved fests.

Looking at the social media, there’s been a heart-warming flood of concern and ideas shown, including many offering their refunds to the people affected by the bushfires. Makes you feel proud that in times of disaster us sandgropers put compassion over self interest.

From everyone at WAM, our very best to everyone in fire’s reach, and may safety continue to be the primary concern on everyone’s mind.
