Song Of The Year 2014 opens, with over $40,000 in prizes up for grabs

13 Nov

Not resting after a massively successful 2014 WAM Festival, WAM again flies the flag for WA music with the freshly formatted WAM Song Of The Year competition, now open for submissions and offering over $40,000 worth of prizes to WA’s finest upcoming and established songwriters. With a new, entirely bespoke online platform developed for the comp, it’s now also easier to enter than ever before. On top of the Grand Prize, each of the 16 Category Prize winners take away $500 cash, studio time with WA’s best and more. Best hurry though – entries now close midday Friday 19 December!

This year’s Song Of The Year Grand Prize winner will walk away with the following: $3,000 cash; recording time at the hit-making Albert Studios in Sydney; the opportunity for a publishing deal with Perfect Pitch Publishing; two days recording at Sonic Lolly; mastering provided by William Bowden of King Willy Sound (Grammy award recipient for mastering Goyte’s Somebody That I Used to Know); an online music course valued at $1,640 courtesy of BerkleeOnline; 500 CDs pressed by DiskBank; a RØDE Microphones package; the opportunity to perform at the WA music Award-nominated State Of The Art Festival in 2015; and a prime spot on the 2015 WAM Festival line-up.

Providing ample opportunities for songwriters of all ages and genres, Song Of The Year offers the opportunity for WA-based songwriters to receive recognition and fantastic prizes for their songs. This year the competition will feature 16 categories including the introduction of a Punk/Hardcore one to provide further opportunities for songwriters of all styles to have their work recognised by their music industry peers. WAM is also excited to welcome new major sponsors RAC, who have generously provided support for this year’s competition. With so much on offer for WA-based songwriters, there’s really no better way to get career-propelling recognition and prizes for your songs than to enter this year’s WAM Song Of The Year.
