METHYL ETHEL SCORE AIR AWARDS NOMINATION
Beloved indie Perth band Methyl Ethel has been nominated for the Best Independent Artist of the Year in the 2019 AIR Awards (Australian Independent Record Labels Association). This nomination comes after a month after their third studio album Triage, the announcement of a world tour, and a string of solo record store performances by frontman Jake Webb around the country. SLY WITHERS SIGN TO DEW PROCESS AND SELECT MUSIC
Homegrown indie-punks Sly Withers has made a name for themselves in WA and everyone is excited to see where they go next with their latest news. The northern suburbs legends have signed to Dew Process/Universal Music Australia (Tired Lion, Tkay Maizda, Last Dinosaurs) and Select Music (DZ Deathrays, Ruby Fields, Skeggs). More info here.
STELLA DONNELLY ALBUM RECEIVED WITH APPLAUSE
WA’s indie golden girl, Stella Donnelly released her highly anticipated first full-length album this March. Beware of the Dogs has received multiple shining reviews from media all over the globe, including a 7.6 from Pitchfork. More info here.
WA GOV BUYS BON SCOTT’S LETTER
Earlier this year a three-page letter written by the former AC/DC frontman was auctioned off in Los Angeles and bought for $14,000. It has now been revealed that the letter, written to his former girlfriend Valerie just two years before his death, was in fact bought by the McGowan Government. The letter will spend the next two weeks on display at the State Library of WA. More info here.
ESKIMO JOE BRING BACK BLACK FINGERNAILS, RED WINE
After almost 13 years since its release, Eskimo Joe are bringing back their hit album Black Fingernails, Red Wine for a special limited edition release. The well-loved Perth band are celebrating their 21st Anniversary with a series of album reissues. The CD will feature not only the original album but 25 additional songs! More info here.
TAME IMPALA BACK WITH NEW MUSIC
After a four-year wait for eager fans, Freo local Kevin Parker is finally back with new music! The brand new Tame Impala single ‘Patience’ has been making waves with it’s 70s disco influence, which the band performed on Saturday Night Live last weekend in New York as well as a yet to be released track ‘Borderline’. GRAFFIC JAM LAUNCH NEW PODCAST
Perth live music production team Graffic Jam, who have become well known for their ‘Sound Check’ series, have launched their latest project, ‘In The Loop’. The podcast’s aim is to provide the people with information and reviews of new music coming out of WA, and encourage listeners to discover and love new local bands and artists. More info here.
PERTH PSYCH-ROCK ACTS ANNOUNCED ON SPLENDOUR LINEUP

BIG WIN FOR JULIANA AREIAS
Perth-based Brazilian singer-songwriter Juliana Areias has taken home the title of Best Brazilian Album Launched in the USA in 2018 in The Focus Brazil Awards in Florida for her album Bossa Nova Baby. The album is available on all digital platforms and Sydney locals can see Juliana perform live at Foundry616 Jazz Club this Saturday. More info here.
