More jobs, funding deadlines and competitions for acts and music industry peeps to get ahead!

DEPARTMENT OF CULTURE AND THE ARTS
The DCA‘s Creative Industries program supports projects that strategically develop the potential capacity both creatively and commercially for musicians and more. Funding deadlines are fast approaching for the following categories: Development – closes Thursday, 27 August; Distribution and Marketing – closes Thursday, 27 August;  Artflight – Closes last Tuesday of each month.

BIGSOUND
Given BIGSOUND’s continuing growth as Australia’s biggest music industry conference and artist showcase, QMusic is exploring options for structuring and strengthening their team and are looking to add a programmer to the team for 2016. EOIs close midnight 7 August 2015.

PIRATE 88 REGIONAL SONG OF THE YEAR
Fremantle-based radio station Pirate 88 are asking acts to send in one of your best songs for your chance to win a major prize pack of a half day recording out the brand new state of the art John Butler Studio in Fairbridge Village with an overnight stay, plus more. Open to all solo artists or bands outside the metro area.

DEFEAT THE BEAT
The City Of Joondalup is now calling all bands, soloists, DJs and more talented young people to showcase their abilities across any music genre for their Defeat The Beat competition, 7 October at Arcade Nightclub. Entries close Sunday 6 September 2015.

INTERNATIONAL SONGWRITING COMPETITION
The ISC judging panels have been announced, including recording artists as diverse as Lorde, Tom Waits and Avicii, and executives from Atlantic, Warner Bros. and Sony. Open to both amateur and professional songwriters, ISC offers 22 genres of music for you to enter your songs and gives away more than $150,000 in cash and prizes. WA had four winners last year.

A not-for-profit organisation running inclusive music sessions across WA, helping people learn new skills and connect with others through music. Catch Music is seeking a Music Facilitator for the organisation’s Fremantle group, with the role commencing during school Term 3.
