WAM HIGHER NOTE WORKSHOP RETURNS
Aimed at self-managed musicians and emerging managers serious about kicking their career up a level, Higher Note is a bespoke two-day workshop program running from Thursday 16 – Friday 17 August 2018 at the State Theatre Centre of WA in Northbridge, thanks to Perth Theatre Trust. The program provides unprecedented access to some of Australia’s most experienced industry representatives in a unique and intimate boardroom setting – allowing attendees to easily ask questions, seek personal career advice, and build valuable connections. RESIDENCY OPENINGS FOR AUSTRALIAN COMPOSERS
Prelude is a national network of residencies for Australian composers, housed in historic buildings and providing time and space to create new work. Prelude offers four long-term residencies in composers’ houses in NSW, SA & WA. The successful applicants are provided with sole occupancy of the houses as well as a stipend to cover living costs and travel. Note that applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents, and must be members of APRA AMCOS. Applications close midnight Monday 16th July 2018.

SXSW MUSIC FESTIVAL SHOWCASE APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
SXSW Showcasing Artists benefit from career changing exposure and publicity provided by the amazing mix of influential participants who attend SXSW every year. Happening over 8-17th March 2019 in Austin Texas, showcasing at SXSW means performing in one of Austin’s famous live music venues for 30,000 industry reps, 3,000 media members, and thousands of fans and fellow musicians from all over the world.

AUSTRALIA COUNCIL TOUR FUNDING OPPORTUNITY
The Contemporary Music Touring Program (CMTP) supports national touring activity undertaken by Australian musicians performing original contemporary music. It provides travel support of up to $15,000 for artists and their manager for tours in Australia that include performances in regional and remote areas. Funding can be provided to performers, managers, agents, and music networks on behalf of professionals working in the Australian music industry. Applications close midnight Tuesday 2nd October for projects starting after 1st January 2019.

RECORDING OPPORTUNITY WITH PERTH JAZZ SOCIETY
Perth Jazz Society are excited to announce a new partnership with Procopy. APRA AMCOS FEMALE MENTORING PROGRAM
As part of a firm commitment toward gender parity in their membership ranks, APRA AMCOS will pilot four new mentorship placements in Perth, Western Australia for emerging female songwriters embarking on their first major project. This opportunity is designed to support the mentees holistically with: practical advice on establishing a career, guidance on expanding and honing the songwriter’s craft, assisting with planning and carrying out their first major project. SEEKING BANDS TO PLAY ‘LIVE AT THE BBRC’
Presented by Bayswater non-profit community organisation the Baysie Rollers, ‘Live At The BBRC’ is an exploration of live original West Australian music held on the second Sunday of every month at much-loved Bayswater Bowling & Recreation Club. The event is gaining traction and they’re now looking for more talented original WA bands to keep the family crowd entertained. They generally program two bands, playing an hour set each, for every event, and can offer a fee of $250.

AUSTRALIAN MUSIC WEEK ARTIST SHOWCASE APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
Artist showcase applications are now open for Australian Music Week 2018, which takes place in Cronulla from 7-11 November. AMW is searching for more than 100 acts, across a range of genres to put in front of top-notch talent scouts from around the globe. We’d love to see plenty of top WA talent on show, so get your applications in. Applications close 11:45pm Tuesday 21st August, 2018.
