moreinfoThe fourth KISMIF International Conference ‘Keep It Simple, Make It Fast! Gender, differences, identities and DIY cultures’ will take place in Porto, Portugal between 3 July and 7 July 2018. The conference will be preceded by a summer school entitled ‘What difference do DIY cultures make?’ on 3 July 2018 in Faculty of Arts and Humanities of University of Porto. The KISMIF Conference 2018 welcomes the submission of proposals for papers’ presentations, panels’ discussion, creative workshops and creative performances, with early registration closing on 31 March 2018 for speakers, students and general attendees.

moreinfoThe Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries are now taking applications for Community Engagement, Creative Development, Aboriginal Arts, and Commercial Development Grant‘s. Apply at least 25 business days before the planned project/activity start date. DLGSC’s Culture and the Arts division is closed for the Christmas holidays from 23 December 2017 to 1 January 2018. Technical and application assistance for Culture and the Arts grants will be unavailable during this period.


moreinfoAustralian and New Zealand art music composers again have the chance to share in $100,000 worth of funding to create new commissioned work, as applications open for the third round of funding from the APRA AMCOS Art Music Fund. Applications close on 20 February 2018. Funding is available for the creation of commissioned work that is innovative, displays professional compositional craft and represents a benchmark of excellence in its field.


moreinfoThe call for works is now open for the 2018 ISCM World Music Days in Beijing, China, on 19-26 May 2018. As the Australian section of the ISCM, the Australian Music Centre is looking for works to include in their official submission. The deadline for submissions to the Australian section is Friday 1 December 2017. At least one work from every official submission will be performed at the festival. Preference will be given to shorter works, and works completed after 2012.

moreinfoAPRA AMCOS are inviting composer members who identify as female to apply for the two mentorship opportunities – one dedicated to film composition and one dedicated to TV. This is a priceless opportunity to work in tandem on real life projects and receive practical advice to help you establish a career as a screen composer while extending and honing your craft. Both mentorships are offered for a three month period and mentees will receive some financial support over that time. Applications close on Friday 2 February 2018.

INVISIBLE CITIES FREMANTLE ART APP

The artist and human ecologist behind Invisible Cities, Asha Bee Abraham, has gathered 10 stories, however her hunt is ongoing. Participants are invited to contribute new stories for the rest of the year, with the project launching as part of the City of Fremantle’s Heritage Festival and concluding in late 2017. SPACE TO HIRE AT MIDLAND JUNCTION CENTRE

moreinfoMundaring Arts Centre has recently expanded its services and taken up management of the Midland Junction Arts Centre. Located in beautiful surrounds in front of Juniper Gardens in the heart of Midland, the newly refurbished space features two generous gallery spaces, an intimate 135 seat auditorium, a leafy courtyard, rehearsal and printing spaces as well opportunities for artists to work in residence. If you are an arts based organisation wanting a space to hold an exhibition, workshop or performance, consider the Midland Junction Arts Centre.


COUNTRY ARTS MEMBERSHIP CHANGES

In light of the changes to the membership constitution, and the desire to grow our membership, the Board of Country Arts WA has made membership free. Any member that paid prior to this date will retain the member benefits that were offered at that time for one year.

IMPROV PROGRAM & WORKSHOP

Tura’s iMprov program aims to assist in the development of new and emerging improvisational artists. Once a month on a Monday, the iMprov series presents experimental and exploratory improvisation at bar Four5Nine at the Rosemount HotelThe program also provides a monthly workshop for improvisers to work alongside local, national and international mentors who specialize in the field of improvised music performance.

DCA GRANTS PROGRAM

moreinfoThe new DCA Grants Program has been changed, now allowing for individuals, groups and arts organisations to apply for different types of funding in five categories including Creative Development, Commercial Development, Community Engagement, Aboriginal Arts, and Scholarship and Fellowships. DCA encourages all applicants to ensure their applications are in alignment with all criteria and to read all applicant resources.

WANMA PORTAL
moreinfoThe Western Australian New Music Archive
 is an interactive web portal presenting a collection of content related to the history of new music in Western Australia. You will find a range of material here including audio and video recordings, images, and a range of documents. The original collection has been drawn from the Tura and ABC Classic FM archives, but it is hoped that the collection will be added to through the participation of those involved in the new music scene in Western Australia. They’re also looking for WA releases to be added.


BUILDING BETTER REGIONS FUND NOW OPEN
moreinfoBuilding Better Regions Fund 
supports the Australian Government’s commitment to create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities into the futureThe program will run over four years from 2016-17 to 2019-20.

There are two streams of funding available under the program:
INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS STREAMThe minimum grant amount is $20,000 and the maximum grant amount is $10 million. You must complete your project by 31 December 2019.

COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS STREAM – The minimum grant amount is $5,000 and the maximum grant amount is $10 million, however given the nature of eligible projects we expect most grants will be under $100,000.
You must complete your project within 12 months of executing the grant agreement with the Commonwealth and by 31 December 2019.
