BIGSOUND APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
Applications to play live at this year BIGSOUND Music Festival are now open. Australian and international artists have the rare chance to perform in front of some of the most influential figures in the international music industry by showcasing at BIGSOUND. Taking place on the nights of Tuesday 4 – Friday 7 September in Brisbane, BIGSOUND Festival is the showcase opportunity that puts artists in front of the local, national and international music industry delegates attending the BIGSOUND industry conference. Applications close May 10.
JAMES SYKES BATTYE CREATIVE FELLOWSHIP APPLICATIONS OPEN
The 2018 James Sykes Battye Creative Fellowship is now open for applications. Seeking applications from artists working across all disciplines and across all contemporary art forms. The fellowship seeks to support creative engagement with the State Library’s heritage collections in imaginative and innovative ways, with the aim of providing new and innovative experiences for the public through the development of creative works. Applications close 5pm Wednesday May 30.
ASME WA SCHOLARSHIPS AND STUDY GRANTS
The Australian Society for Music Education have opened applications for WA scholarships and grants. These are for teachers interested in pursuing further professional learning or education both nationally and internationally. This could include attending the ASME National Conference or attending significant post-graduate study courses throughout Australia or Overseas. Applications close 5 pm, Friday 4th May 2018.
SQUIDSTOCK SEEKS YOUNG TALENT TO PLAY LIVE
Michael Brothers Juice are on the lookout for young bands to play in Squidstock. The live event aims to highlight the talents of young, local music acts. If your band members are under the age of 16 years, they’d love to hear from you. Squidstock will be happening every Saturday’s from 6-8 PM from May through til the end of August at FUNK Cider in Caversham. There’s $20,000 worth of prizes to be won, and the winner will have Michael Brothers newest cold pressed blend named after them. MUSIC TUTOR FOR VIOLIN AND/OR PIANO REQUIRED
Northside Music School requires violin and/or piano tutors to begin in Term Two for existing students on Saturdays and two afternoon/evenings a week. Piano tutors will be added to our staff as needed next term. All tutors teach at our studios in Warwick, and provide lessons for students of all levels. Lessons are only conducted during school terms, and all staff will have holidays as per the government school dates. Prior teaching experience is necessary, and an ability to teach young beginners is beneficial.
ACCOUNTS PAYABLE OFFICER POSITION AVAILABLE
Kosmic Sound are requiring a full-time Accounts Payable Officer. Duties and responsibilities for the role include but are not limited to liaising with various departments for validation of invoices, following up on queries and outstanding issues with suppliers, attending to supplier enquiries, reconciling of supplier statements. Goldfields Art Centre are seeking a talented Venue Technician specialising in performing arts to work as part of a team to deliver high quality technical services. LOOKING FOR AN OPERATIONS MANAGER FOR WA YOUTH ORCHESTRAS
The West Australian Youth Orchestra are seeking a Operations Manager responsible for coordinating and managing the daily running of the operations of WAYO, with particular regard to rehearsal and concert management. Duties mainly include but are not limited to management of WAYO’s ensembles with responsibility for the management of concert operations, rehearsals and auditions, work with conductors, guest artists, tutors, parents and members to ensure a high standard of service delivery and efficient rehearsal and concert operations and eneral administration within the WAYO office. Applicants must be available on Saturday mornings between 7:30am and 12:30pm during rehearsals, typically during the school term. Also, it is expected that the Operations Manager must be available for all WAYO concerts.

The Western Australian New Music Archive is an interactive web portal presenting a collection of content related to the history of new music in Western Australia. You will find a range of material here including audio and video recordings, images, and a range of documents. The original collection has been drawn from the Tura and ABC Classic FM archives, but it is hoped that the collection will be added to through the participation of those involved in the new music scene in Western Australia. They’re also looking for WA releases to be added.
BUILDING BETTER REGIONS FUND - NOW OPEN
Building Better Regions Fund supports the Australian Government’s commitment to create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities into the future. The program will run over four years from 2016-17 to 2019-20.
There are two streams of funding available under the program:
INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS STREAM- The minimum grant amount is $20,000 and the maximum grant amount is $10 million. You must complete your project by 31 December 2019.
COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS STREAM – The minimum grant amount is $5,000 and the maximum grant amount is $10 million, however given the nature of eligible projects we expect most grants will be under $100,000. You must complete your project within 12 months of executing the grant agreement with the Commonwealth and by 31 December 2019.
