Desert Feet Inc. are recruiting Sound Engineers/Producers for our Touring program, running music workshops, recording sessions and concerts in some of the most remote Aboriginal communities in Western Australia. You will need professional experience in setting up and running Front of House for outdoor concerts up to 1,000 people or more, and in studio recording and production of bands and solo artists. If you are also a musician – this is a bonus! As well as these professional and technical skills, you will need a current WA drivers license and be prepared for long distance driving, as well as having (or able to get) a current Working With Children Check. First Aid qualifications are a bonus. Please send your expressions of interest with an outline of your professional experience and interests. As part of the BIGSOUND Conference, there will be a number of listening sessions. Amrap, Triple R, RTRFM, FBi Radio, 2ser and PBS 106.7FM will be giving conference attendees the opportunity to meet Music Directors and pitch a song. If you’ve got a good one send it through or point us to a link, and send a short story about how it came to be, what it means to you etc. In addition to this, each month Mandurahmusic will be featuring an EP or album from local artists on their web site. The first is the 2015 Musical Fruit album which is available for streaming or free download. 2017 PEGGY GLANVILLE-HICKS RESIDENCY – EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST NOW OPEN
Expressions of Interest are now open for the Australia Council’s Peggy Glanville-Hicks residency. This is an invaluable opportunity for composers to make music for twelve months in the heart of Sydney. In addition to providing accommodation, the $20,000 grant will cover the composer’s living costs, on-costs, travel and administration for the period of their residency. NANGA MUSIC FESTIVAL WORKSHOP SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
A number of exciting workshops for this year’s Nanga Music Festival have been announced, which include: Performance Skills with Cloudstreet, Vocal Harmony and Arrangement with Co Cheòl, Live Looping with Tom Richardson and African Dance with Tendera. Nanga workshops are up-close and personal with an emphasis on fun and inclusion. Also, Early Bird entry ticket savings are currently available for only $125 per person. Showtime Talent Quest and Canning Show are seeking acts for 4-5 November. The winner of our Performance Art Installation at the Canning Show takes away $500 cash and also a nice trophy, as well as receiving an invitation to our annual Awards Dinner – Runner up receives $150, and third place $50. It’s a great little busking like feel to it and Show attendees really like seeing what our local artists can do. The winner of the Talent Quest will receive flights to Singapore thanks to Scoot, a nice cash prize and trophy. There are lots of give-aways for runner ups, too! More info here.
PS Art Space is partnering up the Western Australian Aids Council to bring you an exciting new exhibition titled ZERO. They are calling all artists to submit an expression of interest in relation to the theme of ZERO – closing on the 6 September 2016. Artists are called to create new works in response to the word ‘ZERO’ or the number ‘0,’ meaning no new AIDS diagnoses, zero discrimination and zero AIDS related deaths. Interpretations of the theme may be more literal, radical or lateral. Existing works that relate to the theme may also be submitted. ZERO is open to all forms of visual and creative arts. PERFORMER APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR FAIRBRIDGE FESTIVAL 2017
Fairbridge Festival is back in 2017, from 21-24 April. Applications are now open for musicians, as well as artists who can deliver interesting workshops/presentations. Applications close 16 September 2016. More info here.
2016 WRITE A BLUEGRASS SONG COMP
Manjimup Bluegrass Music Weekend are inviting artists to write a song about Western Australia for a chance at $400. It will be happening from 30 September- 2 October. Applications are open now and close 4 September. More info and comp guidelines here.
CATALYST COMMUNITY ARTS FUND CLOSING SOON
Catalyst closes 30 September 2016 for projects starting from 1 January 2017. CAN will host two FREE events to assist applicants seeking funding for their community arts project, or community artists seeking research and development grants. Catalyst funding has contributed to WAM’s regional programs and is a great place to start for community artists. More info here.

AUSTRALIA COUNCIL’S INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCIES PROGRAM
International residencies provide unique opportunities for artists across all artforms to immerse themselves in new arts communities, broaden their knowledge and contribute to the presence of Australian artists around the world. The Australia Council for the Arts is currently offering international residency opportunities for Australian artists in a variety of exciting international locations. JumpClimb‘s award-winning Noodle Palace is return for Fringe World 2017 and is now taking expressions of interest for performance artists wanting to be included in their eclectic program.

DCA GRANTS PROGRAM
The new DCA Grants Program has just been announced, with changes now allowing for individuals, groups and arts organisations to apply for different types of funding in five categories including Creative Development, Commercial Development, Community Engagement, Aboriginal Arts, and Scholarship and Fellowships. DCA encourages all applicants to ensure their applications are in alignment with all criteria and to read all applicant resources.
