LAST CALL: VANDA & YOUNG SONGWRITING COMPETITION
Entries are now open for the 2016 Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition, the world’s largest charity song contest. This year’s prize winners will share in A$65k and join the eminent company of past winners Kimbra, Gotye and The Preatures. With proceeds going to Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia, your entry will also help to make someone elses life richer. ENTRIES OPEN FOR FBi RADIO’S NORTHERN LIGHTS COMP
The independent broadcaster is looking for exciting new Australian talent to champion on an international scale. One act will be flown to Iceland to play as part of the official lineup for Iceland Airwaves Festival in Reykjavik, taking place on 2-6 November 2016. They will join an impressive list of acts such as PJ Harvey, Warpaint, Julia Holter, Kate Tempest, múm and Liima.Entries are open until Friday 5 August, 2016. Up-and-coming solo artists and bands from across Australia are invited to submit their music here.

PICA 2017 ARTISTIC PROPOSAL CALLOUT
Each year PICA aims to present a series of contemporary arts projects that create career-defining moments for artists, life changing experiences for audiences of all ages and critical turning points in the advancement of art forms. For its 2017 program PICA is calling for proposals from artists for its remodelled performance program during Fringe World Festival, and studio residency program. ARTIST/EVENT REGISTRATION FOR 2017 FRINGE
Perth’s FRINGE WORLD is an exciting platform where up-and-coming artists can perform to audiences alongside artists and performers who are well-known and experienced at Fringe festivals in Australia and internationally – and this includes music! 2017 registrations are now open for events and venues. DEPARTMENT OF CULTURE AND THE ARTS GRANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Culture and the Arts has announced opening and closing dates for grant applications. Included, the The Aboriginal Arts Grants Program, opening 8 August, provides project funding to support the long-term growth and sustainability of Aboriginal arts and culture in WA. More info here.

APRA AMCOS AirIt FOR INDIGENOUS ARTISTS
APRA AMCOS has teamed up with Amrap’s AirIt to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) artists get their music to community radio broadcasters across Australia. Through the partnership, APRA AMCOS ATSI members with radio-ready music can fast-track their access to AirIt, a free music distribution service that allows DJs from radio stations around the country to find and access songs to play on their shows. AUSTRALIA COUNCIL’S INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCIES PROGRAM
International residencies provide unique opportunities for artists across all artforms to immerse themselves in new arts communities, broaden their knowledge and contribute to the presence of Australian artists around the world. The Australia Council for the Arts is currently offering international residency opportunities for Australian artists in a variety of exciting international locations. Applications for the International Residencies Program close on Tuesday 4 October 2016. More info here.

THE GOODS SHED WORKSHOP FOR WA ARTISTS
Western Australian artists have an opportunity to attend a workshop led by Paul Collard (UK Creative Learning expert) and one of the projects international teaching artists (Paul Gorman or Yaminay Nasir Chaudhri) during Aug 26-29 or Sept 13 & 14. Workshops are open to artists with professional practice in an arts or creative discipline, who are interested in working within schools or educational settings as teaching artists, as well as artists interested in mentoring young people in WA. FREMANTLE FESTIVAL 2016 – ARTIST FUNDING
In 2016, the Fremantle Festival continues to provide funding for community organisations and artists wishing to present projects at any time of the year in Fremantle through their Community Development funding program. Second funding round closes 31 July.

PIRATE88 TRACK OF THE YEAR
The Pirate88 2016 Track of the Year song contest is open! There are five categories to choose from, including Fremantle, Western Australia, Youth-Global, Australia, and the World. Applications close 31 October.

DCA GRANTS PROGRAM
The new DCA Grants Program has just been announced, with changes now allowing for individuals, groups and arts organisations to apply for different types of funding in five categories including Creative Development, Commercial Development, Community Engagement, Aboriginal Arts, and Scholarship and Fellowships. DCA encourages all applicants to ensure their applications are in alignment with all criteria and to read all applicant resources.

RADIO FREMANTLE SEEKING ARTISTS

EMERGE YOUTH ART AWARDS
Applications are open for young bands, duos and solos act under 25 to perform at Emerge Youth Art Awards on Saturday 20 August 2-6pm. This is a paid performance opportunity for bands suitable for an art exhibition and awards ceremony. CITY OF JOONDALUP ARTS DEVELOPMENT SCHEME
Apply for up to $10,000 for your performing arts project, performance or initiative through the City Of Joondalup Arts Development Scheme. Applications for the second round close Thursday 20 October 2016, 5.00pm. Download the information booklet to apply.
