11 Mar

Singapore WA Music Exchange Program looking for 3 WA acts to impress Asian Market.

Launched by WAM and Timbre Music at the 2013 WAM Festival, the Singapore WA Music Exchange (S.W.A.M.) program is gearing up for the final stage of the pilot program and is seeking THREE lucky WA acts to perform at Timbre Group’s signature event Beerfest Asia 2014 in Singapore (Thursday 12 – Sunday 15 June, which attracts over 30,000 punters over the four days of the festival.

Artists will be selected by a panel made up of Timbre Music and The Music Society, Singapore (SGMuso), and will also have the opportunity to participate at an industry showcase at one of Timbre’s venues, introducing the acts to some of Singapore’s most exciting emerging acts, producers and management, and also get to know the key players in the Singaporean market at an industry networking session.

“We at Timbre Music are very excited to host some of the most exciting bands from Western Australia at one of Singapore’s largest lifestyle events, Beerfest Asia, as well as help connect them to some of Singapore’s key industry players at a networking session,” commented Danny Loong, Co-Founder/Chief Creative Director of Timbre Group. “Australia and Singapore’s cultural connections are becoming increasingly important as artists and bands from both music scenes begin to benefit from gaining more market and fan shares in both territories.”

Recognising the importance of the Asian music market and hence this opportunity to WA acts’ careers, the Department of Culture and the Arts (DCA) is also encouraging acts to apply for funding specific to S.W.A.M, offering an additional pool of funding that will not impact on acts’ ability to apply for other Contemporary Music Grants.

This opportunity is the perfect chance for WA acts to gain vital exposure, experience and connections in one of Asia’s most exciting export markets. Please apply by sending your act’s bio, photo, video and/or song links, and contact details to WAM’s Membership and Industry Development Officer, Claire Hodgson – [email protected] – by 5pm Friday 21 March.

*Please note: If you have been accepted to Music Matters Live 2014 you are not eligible to apply
