MusicNT’s 2015 Bush Bands Program applications open
Applications are now open for MusicNT’s 2015 Bush Bands Program, the premier contemporary music program for Indigenous musicians in Central Australia.
Indigenous bands from Central Desert communities in the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia are encouraged to apply for the 2015 Bush Bands Program. The program combines Bush Bands Business, a four-day skills development camp with music industry leaders from September 1-4, and the Bush Bands Bash on September 5, a foot-stomping concert in Alice Springs that celebrates the language and music of Indigenous Central Australians.
The Bush Bands Program is the premier Indigenous music development event in Central Australia and has supported bands in taking their music to the mainstream. MusicNT’s Executive Director, Mark Smith, said the Bush Bands Program assists bands with professional development workshops, mentoring and performance opportunities. He added that bands selected would feature on a promotional CD and one band would have the opportunity to tour with Sand Tracks – a Country Arts WA initiative run through September.
Applications are open now and close May 28.
Bush Bands Business: September 1-4 at Ross River Resort.
Bush Bands Bash: September 5 in Alice Springs.
