There’s constantly a heap of sweet new tunes coming out of WA, and LaunchPad is here to fill you in on the latest single, video, EP and album launches from local acts of all genres over the next fortnight, and beyond…
►Stepping out from his role as frontman/guitarist with Perth indie-surf-rockers Stillwater Giants, Henry Clarke aka Duncan Saige launches his debut EP on Friday 1 September at The Odd Fellow, Thursday 7 at Defectors Bar, Friday 8 at The Monkey Bar, Saturday 9 at Settlers Tavern Margaret River and Thursday 14 at Prince of Wales, Bunbury, all supported by Luke Fox.
► 2017 WAM Song of The Year Country winners Ralway Bell launch their next single Dear Friends with a little help from The Jaycos, Wayward Johnson & The Adjustment and Carla Geneve at The Bassendean Hotel on Friday 1 September.
► Alternative rockers Pat Chow will be launching their new single Green Eyes’ from their long-awaited second LP on Saturday 2 September at Badlands Bar, with supports The Floors, Thee Loose Hounds, Flossy and Rinehearts.
► Alt rock/post punkers DIY Rainclouds are back with a new lineup and new single ‘Alibi’, being launched at Rosemount Hotel on Saturday 2 September with support from Moonlighter, BATS, Candy Guts and Yomi Ship.
► Experimental outfit Decibel New Music Ensemble have commissioned a number of Australian visual artists to create artworks designed to be read as scores for performance and will perform the works on Sunday 3 September at P.S. Art Studios and Gallery.
► Perth indie quintet and ’16 Gozzy Rock winners Young Robin launch their new single Stay at Badlands Bar on Saturday 6 September, supported by RAKSHA, Iceage Sugar, J.F.K, Choking Stanley, Scarlet Drive, and Figurehead.
► Classic and harder edged pop punkers Lions and Lambs release How to Stick Around at The Boston on Friday 8 September, supported by Blindspot, Scarlet Drive, Nankasi and Kristie Butler of Joanie Get Angry.
► 2016 hip hop WAM award winner Marksman Lloyd returns with new single NOMO taken from the upcoming EP Portals, which he launches on Friday 8 September at the Rosemount Hotel (support from Premiss with Beckon and Hyclass, Benki Bjah, Silvertongue, and Bluntfield ft. Penny Purr & Yully), and on Saturday 16 September at Settlers Tavern (with Hyclass, Rae & Nat, and Beckon).
► Jazz funk/neo soul collective Demon Days are releasing their new single Killer Bees with Elli Schoen, Marlinspike, Post Depression Makeout Session and Nicole Filev at Badlands Bar on Saturday 9 September.
► Perth’s heavy folk-influenced melodic death metal band Claim The Throne deliver their epic fourth full-length album on Wednesday September 13 at Four5Nine. Two new music videos will also be playing on the projector screen, with special guests to be announced.
►A truly spectacular union, punk/post-hardcore/emo/garage band Shit Narnia and dreamy alternative garagers Childsaint have combined forces to create and launch a split 7″ at Mojo’s on Saturday 16 September, joined by Emlyn Johnson and Marlinspike.
► Hot on the heels of smashing venues around Australia with The Amity Affliction, Perth metal outfit Make Them Suffer have announced tour dates in support of their brand new album; Worlds Apartworld, and are bringing along American heavy hitters Wage War and Melbourne maniacs Alpha Wolf to the Rosemount Sunday September 24.
►Country soul blues artist Emily Barker is now based in London but returns home to launch her latest album Sweet Kind of Blue at The Bird on Saturday 7 October with Joel Barker and the Low Company and Jere Sosa, plus Friday 6 October at The Warehouse in Bunbury.
