Five copies to giveaway of Gina Williams’ new book Wanjoo
Last Friday the Sounds Australia Music Export Meetings were held, offering free advice sessions with Executive Producer Millie Millgate to WAM Members – more info here. One of the artists taking advantage of these sessions was Indigenous WAMAwards-winning singer-songwriter Gina Williams, who writes and performs songs in the Noongar language.
As pictured, she brought along her recently released first book, Wanjoo, offering a chance to look at this song and language in a new way and featuring illustrations from the brilliant students at Ashfield Primary School in Perth. Available for $30, the sales of the book will help enable schools to access this language, engaging with children to deliver a message of inclusiveness and reconciliation. This campaign will also kickstart a “pay it forward” system, where proceeds from book sales will enable access by schools which have smaller numbers (and don’t necessarily have the budget to host a workshop).
Here at the WAM office we were lucky enough to receive FIVE COPIES TO GIVEAWAY. Head to our Facebook to win!
