In partnership with RAC and with support from Hertz, WAM’s 2015 Wheatbelt Touring Circuit keeps going from strength to strength, with some challenging weather on the last tour doing little to stop packed houses again for the likes of The Justin Walshe Folk Machine, Galloping Foxleys, Lauren Arthur, John Read and Beryl Dick. Next up, Tour #5 sees crowd and critics favourite Morgan Bain headlining three dates in the Wheatbelt.

An International Songwriting Competition, WA Music Awards, WAM Song Of The Year and Telstra Road To Discovery high achiever, Morgan Bain heads to the Wheatbelt fresh from showcasing at Singapore’s Music Matters Live. He’ll be supported on all dates by previous WTC fave and Wheatbelt local Lauren Arthur, as well as a number of special guest locals on each date, covering Freemasons Tavern in Beverley Friday 26 June; Grass Valley Tavern Saturday 27; and Quindanning Inne Sunday 28 June.

The Wheatbelt Touring Circuit is a rare program that sees free entry performances at multiple community recreation and leisure complexes, clubs and traditional pub venues throughout the Wheatbelt region, seeing leading acts from WA’s metro areas combining with a vast array of talented upcoming and established acts from the Wheatbelt. Find out more info here.

A key driver of this tour is raising awareness of the Wheatbelt region’s road safety issues. WAM is proud to enter into this partnership with RAC as we recognise and support their commitment to increasing road safety awareness and reducing serious crashes in the region.

Of this partnership, the RAC’s Carina Lauder said, “In 2014 the Wheatbelt road fatality rate was 11 times the Perth metropolitan rate, six times the state rate, and twice nearby regions. We all have a role to play in addressing the Wheatbelt’s poor road safety record and real change starts with the individual, and must be supported by the community as a whole. Too many loved ones are dying or being seriously injured on our roads. We need to talk about the Wheatbelt.”

SELECTED BIOS IN BRIEF:

MORGAN BAIN: A multi-award-winning songwriter, performer and vocalist, Morgan Bain’s live performances are captivating and reveal a sensibility that showcase his skills in a fusion of rock, soul and blues that is unmistakably his own. As well as winning various WA Music Awards and WAM Song Of The Year Awards over his surprisingly short career, he also reached final status in the International Songwriting Competition in 2012 and 2014, been nationally selected as one of three songwriters in the national Telstra Road To Discovery competition and was one of five acts to showcase at Singapore’s Music Matters Live 2015.

LAUREN ARTHUR: Northam singer-songwriter Lauren Arthur is currently studying contemporary music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). She is preparing for the release of her debut album, having already recorded ten tracks. Lauren has performed many gigs around WA, including supporting east coast-based four- piece rock band Split Seconds and wowing already on the Wheatbelt Touring Circuit.

BRENDEN NICHOLS: From the Wheatbelt town of Toodyay, Brenden is currently working on material for a debut album. His music has leanings towards country and folk, with influences including the likes of Lyle Lovett, Ryan Adams, Tom Petty and Paul Kelly. His musical journey has also taken in Japan and Sydney.

The Rumble: Players of blues funk n’ rock, members Matt, Tim, Rob and Ben have earned a foot stomping reputation as W.A’s bullocking new-aged blues rock group The Rumble. Mixing melody, riffage and old school story telling to shake the feathers off all the fine folks!
