A home grown rock show with a difference has been announced for Perth, featuring some of Perth’s best known musical talent, a big original rock score, and a musical plot with a dark twist. The brainchild of Perth artist Keshet, an international veteran musician and sound engineer, and his writing partner Lefelman, The Diments Rock Opera is a dark tragedy about falling from grace into the realms of insanity, and one man’s quest for redemption.
The twisted tale centres on Eddie Diment, a successful businessman who believes he has it all – money, power and the beautiful Layla by his side. However, Eddie’s seemingly perfect world is quickly turned upside down when he discovers Layla is having an affair with his wayward brother, Barry. Soon after, a dramatic chain of events unfold that sees Eddie consumed by loss and grief and stripped of everything he once held dear. Edging ever closer to madness, Eddie searches desperately for answers to his downfall – who, or what led him here? And can he find a path to redemption?
The 75 minute epic combines theatrical rock performances, stunning costumes and over the top set design – think Alice Cooper, Kiss and Iron Maiden – with dramatic storytelling to create one hell of a show!
Featuring a professional dance troupe, a full rock band including creator Keshet on guitar, Fabio of Broken Tides on drums and Simon from Psychonauts on bass, as well as four singers playing a cast of seven scheming characters including, Sal of Emerald City & Gunners, Vin of Tempest Rising, Jordan of Madam Montage and Marcio Mendes (known as a solo artist).
And be warned, this is not your traditional rock show – as an audience member you will be encouraged to participate in the show as directed. Awesome rock attire is also encouraged. This is a one-of-a-kind experience for rockers and music lovers of all ages that you will not want to miss.
General tickets are on sale now for four shows from the 4th to the 7th of October at the Nexus Theatre, Murdoch University.
