Australia’s only one-on-one performance festival is back with a bold program of new intimate experiences by twelve national and international artists as part of Proximity Festival 2015, including local music legends Mei Saraswati and Leon Ewing.
Taking place at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA), the Festival will run 28 October – 8 November and involve a curated program of opening celebrations, experimental performances, talks and workshops.
The full list of artists selected for the 2015 performance program includes WA artists Tom Blake (WA), Leon Ewing (WA), Chloe Flockart (WA), Mei Saraswati (WA), Brett Smith (WA), alongside Phillip Adams (VIC), Jo Bannon (UK), Jackson Eaton (VIC), Caroline Garcia (NSW), Mish Grigor (NSW), Emily Parsons-Lord (NSW), and Malcolm Whittaker (NSW).
“We’re excited to host Proximity Festival this year; having this event sit within our WA Focus program really helps stage the conversations of WA artists and platforms among national and international voices.” says Stefano Carboni, AGWA Director. “Proximity Festival will also showcase the Gallery and the festival itself in a new light.”
Unlike previous years, for the first time Proximity Festival will operate during opening hours amongst the daily life of AGWA. Audiences will be able to experience three programs of four different 15-minute performances in the gallery spaces and many areas that are not usually accessible to the public.
Tickets and program details will be released end of August.
