Perth local party-rock band TRIANGLE FIGHT are premiering their entirely DIY experimental short film THE BLOOD GIANT: A Temporal Cantata, alongside an unconventional collection of other shorts and clips from WA experimental filmmakers, animators and musicians at this community screening event at Luna Palace Leederville on Sunday the 30th of September, 2018.
This local film event, proudly supported by the City of Vincent, will showcase some of the weirder moving art hiding in WA, presenting work from emerging and established creatives in the WA film and animation sphere for those with a more exploratory taste in viewing. There will be a brief Q&A with the band after the show to answer all your curly questions about the content of the film, and merchandise is available to purchase on the night!
Get in early to be transported to lo-fi tropicana generated by local sound artist MITCHELL FREEWAY, who will be performing live in the Luna Courtyard from 6pm.
More info about THE BLOOD GIANT: A Temporal Cantata:
Created by Triangle Fight’s front man Paulo Gonzalez, this premiere represents the culmination of 2 years worth of work by the whole band. Made in an expressionist style, THE BLOOD GIANT blends colourful animation with live action sequences, set to an upbeat rock score that forms Triangle Fight’s third release, out on BandCamp and Spotify last June.
THE BLOOD GIANT film is a visual accompaniment to the band’s third album, continuing the tradition set by the Beatles film ‘Magical Mystery Tour’ and Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’. This quirky concept film is packed with hidden meaning, containing over 180 hidden “Easter Eggs” that were contributed by all members of the band to create an alternate reality concealed frame by frame, in the style of ARG filmmakers Wham City Comedy (creators of This House Has People In It), Alan Resnick (Unedited Footage of a Bear) and Matthew Barney (The Cremaster Cycle).
The album THE BLOOD GIANT fuses elements of heavy rock with jaunty reggae beats and electronic production, crafting a release with serious mainstream appeal. Triangle Fight have been playing to the underground local music scene since 2014, and the release of this highly ambitious project kicks off a series of shows in regional WA, including Capel, Margaret River and Dunsborough, then back to Perth for an intimate gig at Rodney’s Bait ‘n’ Tackle on 24th of November.
