Standing Out From the Crowd: Music Marketing, Social Media and Publicity Essentials

WAM and APRA AMCOS are excited to present the first Music Industry Sundowner Series (M.I.S.S.) session for 2015, moving to a Saturday for a special session. Focusing on music marketing, social media and publicity, this workshop will provide you with everything you ever needed to know about how to build a strong online presence, plan tour and release publicity campaigns, and develop your brand as an independent artist or music business.

Featuring LA-based music marketing heavyweight SuzAnn Brantner (owner of The Family Business, via skype), RTRFM’s Music Director Adam Christou and moderator Kristy Brown (Lecturer at Central Institute of Technology), this is a session not to be missed by anyone looking to make their music or business standout from the crowd.

SuzAnn Branter (skype) – The Family Business, Owner and Principal.
After graduating from Indiana University, SuzAnn has worked in several digital marketing companies including 3 Artist Management, Warner Brothers Records and William Morris. She has managed a variety of bands and artists such as The Crystal Method, Paul Oakenfold, Grandaddy and B.T., and is currently the principal of Los Angeles-based digital and content marketing company The Family Business. The organisation works alongside various brand, music and entertainment clients such as Ultra Music, Steve Aoki, Dubs, Universal Music and Island Records to help them reach target demographics through innovative digital strategies, emerging technologies and creative content marketing campaigns.

Adam Christou – RTRFM, Music Director.
After relocating to Perth from Melbourne, Adam became the Music Director for RTRFM. Previously he has been involved with radio station 3SYN as Board Vice President and also presented on Melbourne’s Triple R for many years. Adam has worked as a band manager and has extensive publicity experience through his work at Remote Control Records & Recon Music, working on album campaigns for artists including Queens Of The Stone Age, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Jen Cloher and Kirin J Callinan.

Kristy Brown – CIT, Music Lecturer (Moderator)
Kristy is a music manager, educator and communications professional. As an active member of the music industry, Kristy has taken on a variety of roles including working in various marketing and communications positions for Universal, EMI and Sony; acting as a peer assessor for the Department of Culture and the Arts; founding a record label; working as a freelance publicist and film producer; and her current role as a music lecturer at the Central Institute of Technology (CIT).
