Musicians have the chance to engage in frank discussions about mental health at a series of events rolling around Australia in the next month. Presented by APRA AMCOS and Support Act, the Music and the Mind panel will land in Perth, seeing artists and mental health professionals come together to address an important issue in the music community.

A diverse range of panelists – including psychologists, GPs, songwriters and Support Act representatives – will discuss how to maintain a healthy and creative mind, and seek support when needed. WA Speakers include Catherine Haridy (Support Act), Duane Smith (psychologist) and artist Mitch McDonald (Love Junkies).

Recent research has shown a high incidence of depression and anxiety among musicians. With low pay, unreliable work, bullying, stress and other factors all playing a part, musicians can find it challenging to keep their head in check, and get support when they need it most.

The event is free for APRA AMCOS members with limited FREE tix also available for WAM Members, and open to songwriters who would like to learn more about joining APRA AMCOS.

Email [email protected] with your WAM membership number by 5pm Monday 5 June to RSVP.
