Gozzy Rock is the City of Gosnells’ annual contemporary music competition, which promotes original music from emerging bands all over WA. This year twelve bands will compete across the two heats, which also include free workshops for anyone that want to attend. Six will then going through to compete in the final.

The first two heats will take place this weekend Saturday 6 August and Sunday 7 August, 12pm-6pm.

The final will then be held on Saturday 20 August from 2pm-6pm at the Don Russell Performing Arts Centre.

The  12 lucky acts competing this year are:

Kraill//Llamahead//Luke August//Palm Soma//Reverence
Wooly Mammoth//
Yen.co//Young Robin

This year’s winner will receive a cash prize of $5,000 and a recording package worth $1600 at Soundlab @Amherst, which has a digital recording studio. Second prize winner walks away with $1000 cash and a $1200 recording package, while the Encouragement Award recipient will secure $500 cash and an $800 SoundLab recording package.

WAM‘s Aarom Wilson and Claire Hodgson will be part of this year’s judging team.
