In partnership with Healthway promoting the Act-Belong-Commit message, West Australian Music (WAM) are pleased to present a series of free song writing workshops as part of WAM’s Song of the Year program.
The first workshops in the series will kick off in Bunbury this Summer as part of the Across The Road Summer Music Festivals happening on Saturday 24 November, Saturday 19 January and Saturday 9 February.
Leading the first song writing workshop on Saturday 24 is Perth artist Riley Pearce, who has been recognised for his song writing craft multiple times over his young career in WAM’s Song of the Year awards.
The workshops present a unique opportunity for aspiring artists to explore the creative process, connect with others, and learn about the craft of song writing from established WA artists. With the program wrapping up just prior to WAM’s Song of the Year competition closing, participants are perfectly placed to finetune their original songs under the guidance of skilled song writers before submitting them in the competition.
These workshops provide a genuine synergy with the Act-Belong-Commit message, in providing an opportunity for people to improve and maintain positive mental health through the arts and in particular being creative. The Act-Belong-Commit message encourages us to all to: Act – do something, Belong – do something with someone, and Commit – do something meaningful.
Participating local artists will also have the opportunity to join the Across The Road Summer Festival’s lineup, with two performance slots up for grabs at the January and February festivals for workshop attendees.
