More about Demos From The Northern Goldfields:
Thanks to our partners Goldfields Esperance Development Commission, Regional Development Australia Goldfields Esperance and Minara Community Foundation (Minara Resources), WAM’s Demos From The Northern Goldfields project celebrates the raw talent found through the Northern Goldfields.
Officially launched at the Leonora Golden Gift festival on WA Day long weekend 2-4 June 2018 starring local band, The Tapping Stickz, Demos From The Northern Goldfields showcases songs by 9 predominantly Indigenous songwriters and musicians from communities in the Northern Goldfields, including Laverton, Leonora, and the communities of Mulga Queen, Cosmo Newberry and Mount Margaret.
Recorded in November 2017 at the historic Hoover House in Gwalia, Demos From The Northern Goldfields was lead by producers and co-owners of Rada Studios, Matt Gio (Abbe May, Katy Steele) and Dan Carroll (Grace Barbe, Odette Mercy, Mathas) who took charge of recording the project; with Drew Goddard of Karnivool providing production assistance.
This new project is in line with WAM’s continued efforts to promote Indigenous artists, with one of the aims of ‘Demos From The Northern Goldfields’, being to capture the creativity, love for country, culture and songs that feature both local languages and English from artists residing in the Northern Goldfields.
