2016 WAMAwards Nominees, Party & public voting announced

This year the list is lead by Tired Lion, with a total of 6 nominations capping off what’s been a huge year for the grunge-tinged rockers. Coming up next are good times jazz-rap collective Koi Child (5 noms); psych-fueled garage post-punkers Hideous Sun Demon, Australiana rockers who want to know your postcode Verge Collection and the recently returned from Music Matters Rag n’ Bone (4); then Methyl Ethel and Lucy Peach (3). Multiple nominations were also scored by Abbe May, Andrew Winton, Benjamin Witt, Daniel Susnjar, Davey Craddock, Gina Williams, Matt Gio, Mei Saraswati, Nerve Quakes, Old Blood, POW Negro, Tame Impala and Troye Sivan, reflecting the incredible strength and diversity of WA music.
This year saw consultation with category specific specialists in the creation of judging panels, from which the nominees were selected. 700+ music industry members are now commencing voting to decide the winners of the craft and genre and industry awards, whilst all music lovers now also have their chance to decide the winners in six Public Voted Awards, including Most Popular Live Act, Most Popular Event and Most Popular Video.
